Awarded SAP S/4 HANA Conversion
Together with T.CON and the support of AICOMP, the Mayer Group managed a very complex SAP S/4HANA transition project in just eight months and received the "SAP Quality Award" in the "Fast Delivery" category from SAP Germany.
The "SAP Quality Award" stands for successful SAP implementations with regard to the added value for the company and the realisation in time and in budget.
Within the conversion project, the current system landscape based on SAP ERP ECC 6.0 was converted to SAP S/4HANA 1809. In addition to a large number of affected modules (FI/CO/MM/WM/SD/LE/PP), a third-party solution for variant configuration also works smoothly with the new system landscape. SAP S/4HANA was thus able to become the new digital core of the Mayer Group
The focus of the implementation for the Mayer Group was always on technology and the associated fast conversion. "We will continue to develop existing processes after the end of the project. We are also deliberately starting innovation projects such as the introduction of Fiori interfaces or real-time analytics only after the end of this project," says Elena Krause, Managing Director at mayer-digital. "Our approach can serve as a blueprint for many medium-sized companies. We were able to handle the conversion cleanly and at the same time ensure that our IT and users were not overburdened."
The go-live on a weekend in mid-May 2019 was rewarded by a precision landing in terms of time as well as budget without risking production downtimes.
As a success factor for the successful project implementation, Krause puts the joint control of the project progress and the very good teamwork in the foreground. Elisabeth Hötzinger, head of the S/4HANA Competence Centre at T.CON, adds: "We addressed the issue of quality assurance in every phase and thus created the prerequisites for a smooth go-live."
True to the motto "A new core as the basis for innovation", the Mayer Group has thus laid the foundation for being able to further develop its own business around a contemporary digital core. One of the next steps for Elena Krause, together with her IT team, is therefore to tackle further innovation projects and continue to drive forward the Mayer Group's digitisation strategy. The SAP Quality Award for the project was presented on behalf of the entire team to Stefan Wenzel, Head of IT Consulting at mayer-digital GmbH & Co. KG and Elena Krause at a sports and evening event on Friday, 13 December 2019 in the SAP Arena Mannheim.
